Exploring the Olympic Peninsula

I recently was privileged to help my friends Scott and Emma Frier conduct a photo workshop on the Olympic Peninsula in the state of Washington. The week-long workshop circumnavigated the Olympic National Park and featured daily trips into the park and to the many picturesque beaches.

Lion Cubs of Botswana

During a May 2015 photography expedition to the Okavango Delta region of Botswana, I had an opportunity to observe several prides of lions. The cubs, in particular, were very cute and in-between all my still shots, I managed to shoot quite a few video segments. This video is a cut of several of these clips.

Serengeti Elephants - Scratching an Annoying Itch

While photographing wildlife in Tanzania, we came across a pair of elephants slowly grazing their way across the Serengeti. They approached quite close and then one elephant just had to take advantage of the rocks of a nearby kopje to scratch an annoying itch.

Getting into Sanctuary Kusini Camp (Serengeti)

In the Serengeti, when it rains, the plains become marshes and the roads become rivers. Getting to camp during a thunderstorm was an adventure. Roads were flooded, so we had to go off-road and cross-country. With two four-wheel drive Land Cruisers, a big old tractor, and a lot of slipping and sliding, we made it to camp.

Polar Bear Encounter

During a recent expedition to northern Manitoba, a pair of young male polar bears were recorded as they engaged in a friendly sparring match. The bears were filling time waiting for ice to form on Hudson Bay so they could venture out to hunt.

King Penguins

This short time-lapse movie was recorded in March 2011 while visiting the King Penguin colony at Right Whale Bay on the sub-Antarctic island of South Georgia. This video compresses thirty minutes on the beach into 90 seconds on the screen.
